Transitions

with Dr. Lori Hart

About the program.

The Transitions program is a dynamic, fully customizable keynote experience designed to support high school seniors and parents, new student orientation and programming for college freshman focused on success. Participants are invited into a conversation, not a lecture, centered around personal choices, self-care, academic success, and staying focused on their goals.

Relatable

Transitions helps students navigate the ups and downs of life after high school, like making good choices, understanding brain development, handling stress, taking advantage of resources to support them, maintaining healthy relationships, and keeping sight of what matters most: their growth and goals.

Research Based

Backed by research from Gallup, Harvard, Yale, and the Pew Research Center, this session offers honest insights and practical strategies to help you succeed academically, socially, and personally.

Future Focused

This isn’t just another welcome talk, it’s a conversation about who you are now, who you want to become, and how to make the most of this powerful transition. The program is completely customizable to the audience and messaging the group needs.

  • Mrs. Stephanie Word Spain - Marist School - Counseling - Personal & Academic

"Dr. Hart has been such an amazing fit for our college transitions program. When speaking to our seniors and their parents about their upcoming transition from high school to college, Dr. Hart shares her expertise on how they can make their college years fulfilling and fun, but also safe and healthy. Dr. Hart offers separate presentations for our senior class and their parents tailored to their specific needs, but with Dr. Hart, you will always hear a dynamic and personable presentation that weaves together the most up-to-date research on health and wellbeing in college (and beyond!) with her trademark humor, storytelling, warmth, and care.”

  • Student - Senior - Marist School

“I really liked how she was very honest about the transition to college and told us how not only would it be fun but also very hard. I think the did an amazing job telling us how we will struggle but she offered ways to help with that transition and how to ground ourselves amidst all the changes.”

  • Dr. Erin McCubbin, The Mount Vernon School - Executive Director of Student and Graduate Success Academic and College Counseling

“Lori's storytelling is what really makes her messages stick. Every year, our seniors remark that her talk about the transition to college was one of the first times an adult was 'real' with them about what to expect and what to do. We owe it to our kids to have that conversation, and we are so grateful to have Lori leading the way."

  • Mrs. Stephanie Word Spain - Marist School - Counseling - Personal & Academic

"If you have been around high school seniors for any length of time, you know that they are “barely in the building” when spring rolls around, and I have never seen them pay attention and focus on another speaker the way they do with Dr. Hart. She has an important message to share to support young people and their parents as they embark upon college.”
