What They Don’t Teach You in Grad School: Working with Fraternities & Sororities

Graduate preparation programs in higher education often provide strong foundations in theory, student development, and administration. However, many new professionals enter roles supporting fraternities and sororities without a full understanding of the unique dynamics of fraternity/sorority advising. This program bridges that gap by exploring the realities of working with values-based organizations, alumni/volunteers, risk management challenges, and campus/community politics. Participants will gain practical tools and insights that help them transition from theory to practice with confidence and clarity.

Friday 3:30 PM - 4:15 PM - Tyndall

From Chapter Leader to Career Leader: The Power of Sorority Women who Stay

Retention of sorority members beyond the first or second year is critical—not only for the health of the chapter but also for the individual development of each member. Sorority women who fully engage in the experience gain transferable skills that prepare them for leadership across campus, in graduate school, and in their future careers. This program is designed to highlight how leadership learned in sororities directly connects to campus influence and professional advancement, and to inspire women to remain committed to their membership.
